take a shot at the champs.

the second quarterly cornhole tournament takes place tonight at the little kings shuffle club (9-ish?). anybody who thinks they have what it takes is welcome to come take a shot at kbowman and myself. a lot of trash has been talked since our victory in the inaugural tournament this summer, but i like our chances.

afterwards i'm planning on staying up all night to watch team usa play greece in the FIBA world championship semi-final at 3:30am (taking work off on friday; 4 day weekend, y'all). anybody dumb enough to be interested is welcome to join me at big pink to view the game.

theremin use is always approved.

though i imagine i would hate this guy, i think his "interpretation" is pretty cool.

I came across this awesome clip and had to share it. So, if you watch Lost and you've watched the A-Team then enjoy...

Brando

In November 2005, I predicted on this very blog that Val Kilmer was en route to becoming our generation's Marlon Brando. If you need proof, let this serve as exhibit A. Next thing you know, he'll be moving to Fiji.

weekend roundup:

slipped out of work a tad early friday to catch snakes on a plane with pineapple, rhope, and the ladyfriend. it was a quality flick, in truth a lot better than expected. definitely catch it in the theatre, with as big a crowd as possible.

saturday i hung out with my high school crew for the first time in 5 years or so. threw back a dozen or so brews at the "gables of sugarloaf" pool while regailing each other with competing tales of sexual exploits. then we went here. it was just as dumb as it looks, but i'm kinda glad we went.

yesterday i was hungover as shit but still found the energy to stick some tre-bombs in kbowman's eye. now it's monday morning and the grind begins anew.

good luck to the poet on his awesome latin america road trip.

abu ghraib

check out this first hand account of how it went down, from the guy who first reported it. as usual with this administration, it's not a conspiracy, just utter incompetence. occam's razor is vindicated again. but the stuff about intelligence interrogators is chilling.

entering the discourse.

my pops got a response published on andrew sullivan. his is the reader letter published yesterday under the heading "The War and the Democrats". check it out. sullivan's reply makes some [sadly] valid points as well.

Saturday Night Post POPFEST dance party

Hello Everyone,

I just can't stop watching the OK GO video. It's so awesome. It makes me feel tingly in certain places after I watch it and hear the song. Well, on to other things. I've got a late show/after party Saturday night at the Secret Squirrel after POPFEST ends at the 40 Watt. Things will kick off around 2:30 am and go on until the sweet wee hours Sunday morning. Please come out if you can and help spread the word. Stay beautiful.

coming soon to a theatre near you...

... is the theatrical event of the summer. i'm sure everyone is well aware of this "cultural phenomenon" by now. it opens around the country on 8/18/06, next friday. i'll definitely be there, most likely wearing this snazzy new t-shirt:

check out this short but awesome interview with samuel l., brought to my attention by coke bref over at mezzy eclipse.

you also may have heard about voice messages people have been getting from samuel l. himself, encouraging them to see the film. if you want to send a customized message to your friend, lover, or nemesis, do so here.

I Can't Believe It...

I must say that I stumbled across this and this is one of the best videos I've seen in years and the song is pretty cool too...

monkeys

based on this, i think we should plan a 4KS/oceanchum trip to india with "googly moogly" as our soundtrack song.
