the wrath of khan

i don't know about you guys but i think i watched "the wrath of khan" about fifty times between the ages of 7 and 8. hbo used to show it all the time. i rented it tonight and it holds up pretty well. it's hard to believe it's actually the william shatner of priceline and boston legal you're watching; he's entirely credible as a leader men would follow to their deaths.

i mainly rented it, though, because i wanted to rewatch spock's death scene. i remember it being hella moving. it doesn't disappoint: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFyl4GxBzEw.
riddled with radiation poisoning and on the verge of death, spock takes care to straighten up his uniform before turning around to face kirk. goddammit.

also: kirstie alley's a vulcan. she used to be hot as balls before she gained 500 lbs.

also also: be sure to check out pjl19's response to Soullinkia's comment.

all agreed on wrath of khan. the first star trek is also really good, if you can get through the 20 minute scene where the enterprise is pulling into the garage or whatever it was it was doing(in space). the twist at the end of the first star trek is especially nice. it's also probably the most psychedlically appealing of all the treks, with a pretty amazing spock in space scene at the end that's kind of like the last 30 minutes of 2001.
