36M

Um...I think I've actually posted this before. If I didn't, or if you didn't read read it the first time, this interview with Three Six Mafia is awesome.

ATL

Vice recently did a guide to Atlanta. The parts about seedy bars to get drunk in and even seedier places to get fucked in the ass are kind of interesting. On the other hand, the guide to restaurants is pretty lame. Just as they did with LA, whoever wrote it basically picked one street and the immediate neighborhood around it and anointed the restaurants within this area (including a number of fairly mediocre if not shitty ones) the places to go. Lazy.

terror twilight:

the twilight criterium is this saturday. along with the fourth of july bishop park fireworks display and the christmas parade, the twilight is the tops among civic events in athens. if any of 4KS's dwindling readership will be in the vicinity, feel free to give me a buzz. or catch me afterwards at the tenth annual twilight delirium. i'll be the tall guy drinking way too much.

Thai food

Pics from a Thai New Year fest I attended last week at a Buddhist Temple in Ontario, CA. Free (and tasty) food all around. A nice day. More pictures at my other blog.

There's nothing like a...

One of the more awesome things the NY Times has done recently: a fan-supplied pictorial album of the Grateful Dead. I would definitely display one of those "There's nothing like a Grateful Dead concert" bumper stickers on my Corolla if I had actual firsthand knowledge of whether or not that statement is true. Whatever the case, Live in Europe '72 is great.
There's also an article on Satyajit Ray, creator of the Apu trilogy, which is just as good as Star Wars.

This...

...is my new favorite snack, the maneishe, a perfect example of less is more. Circular, doughy bread, a little larger than a 7", covered with zatar, a Middle Eastern spice combination of oregano, sumac and thyme. Thank you Armenia. Thank you Sasoun Bakery. Only $1 each.

(If anyone finds a way to send a Publix sub my way without sacrificing the taste I'll gladly send you six of these in return.)

Other highlights of life of late:
1. Riding my bike.
2. Watching the Mets on my MLB Extra Innings package. I have a sinking feeling the Mets may be one or two starters short of doing what I want them to do this year. But we'll see...
3. Listening to the new MF Doom album which is really good though not as good as my favorite, MMfood.
4. Creating green curry paste from scratch. I went out and bought a mortar and pestle, to the amusement of the two middle aged Thai ladies behind me at the register, and went to work on some spices. I also made a pretty nice Salmon with Zanzibar spices. I'm getting my own Food Network show soon. Just watch.
