who's your favorite supreme court justice?
if you don't have one, or even if you do, you could check this out to get a quick frame of reference for where the justices have stood on recent cases of import. you could also get some background info on the justices here (though it's sort of outdated).
my favorite? the old man of the court, justice john paul stevens.

that brockholst livingston fellow seems sort of fun, if only for this:
"There was a violent side to Livingston's character. In 1798, he killed a man in a duel."
also, it looks like he didn't do much work while on the court.
lazy AND violent, with a dashing name to boot? love it.
I've always been partial to Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.'s pragmatism. But William Douglas was married four times and is described as "brilliant, eccentric, and independent" so he seems like a guy who'd be fun to hang out with.
i was actually thinking of just present justices. all-time favorite is a toughy, i'll have to do some research on that one. i can't pretend i know anything about more than a half dozen or so justices of the past. certainly mr. holmes broad influence on american jurisprudence is tough to beat.
i've always been big on ruth b-g, although she wrote the opinion upholding the right to drug test high school athletes because changing in the locker room required them to give up some of there privacy rights. I couldn't see a connection with peeing in a cup. My theory always was that they didn't want any one high school student to be that cool, sports or drugs, you have to pick one and go with it. anyway that disheartening opinion aside, i agree with ruth most and she's my favorite. --- I may have to reserve my pick until i find out more about this amazing ms. miers, seems she is qualified simply by loving jesus, and thinking george is the smartest man she knows. sounds great to me, her opinions will be pure gold
