"!"?

caught the tail end of PUSH!'s set last thursday. it sounded ok, kinda like four non blondes with a smidge of maserati.

a look at PUSH!'s myspace profile reveals the following:
Push! are not a singer and a backing band. Push! are not a diva and three dudes.

Push! do not support the furthering of the idea that for a woman to be in a band she must either be a backup singer or a solo artist with accompaniment.

Push! profit from the extensive songwriting catalog of the talented Lauren Osborne, but that catalogue is very much something that we have all worked together to completely recreate.
a little defensive, aren't we? but yeah, it's basically 3/4 of astra backing a hot chick singer. also i like how they stick to that exclamation point.

not surprisingly, two moderately well-received shows seem to be going to the sauce's head. after the show, the sauce approached a group of dudes waiting around to see vetran. one of the guys politely said "hey jeremy....y'all sounded good". the sauce simply smiled smuggly and said "yeah, i know".

Hey big man, i can't log in and wanted to take the temperature of the 4KS community on the subject of a 4KS fantasy football league, maybe with $ involved, maybe not. Post a poll or something if you can, snoogans

Listening to those songs playback on MySpace sho' made me miss Athens.

Those two songs by PUSH! reminded me of that late 1980's pop radio style that reached climax with U2's The Joshua Tree. Not to compare them to closely to U2 (and thus feed the head of the sauce), but stylisticly - with those well articulated and repeating guitar rifts building tension until the release of long drawn and lonely notes held aloft by the singer - that's what I thought most about listening to those songs.

Though the bridge in "Break a Little" isn't my cup of tea, and really kind of jolted me out of relaxed enjoyment, the return was able to reunify the piece. That is a very good track.

hey ghost. good to see that your 4KS personal still lives.

a 4KS fantasy football league is a good idea in theory, but for me i'm already signed up for 2 leagues this year. plus i'm not sure how many of our ranks would commit to such a project.

on an unrelated note, drop a line if you and madame parson would like to come up to the ATH some weekend, as discussed.

Sauce has always been working to further the cause of third wave femninism and now he's doing so musically.

The defensive bit is just a reaction to being called a backing band by the flagpole, if I'm not mistaken...

Thanks for the song analysis, Patrick. It's nice when somebody pays that much attention to something you've done. (not being smug)
