4KS veep pick:
so who should obama choose as his running mate? i for one think it has to be joe biden. tons of foreign policy experience, tons of experience in general, and appeals to working class white voters (he's catholic, born in PA). i know that bayh and kaine both reside in swing states, and i recognize the allure this has. kaine, in particular, could help obama makes the inroads in the south that he's promising but that people are skeptical of.
but it has to be biden. kaine is just as green as obama in terms of high elected office, opening them up to criticism for lack of experience. and bayh seems like a bit of a softy, who can't bring the noise in the way a running mate needs to be able to. running mates have to talk trash and call out the opponents, so that the nominee can keep his hands clean. bayh is too meak to get the job down, but biden is strong willed guy who calls it how it is and cracks jokes in debates.
plus, at the end of the day i'm afraid obama needs an experienced, old white guy standing behind to allay the fears of middle americans. and joe biden is very much an old white guy.

i agree
Huevos,
I disagree --- many of the reasons why I disagree are outlined here:

I say go with the dark horse candidate, former Ga. Senator Sam Nunn, whose foreign policy experience is at least equivalent to, if not greater than, Biden's, and who doesn't have that tendency to say insane things all the time.

I disagree too. Biden seems like a cool dude, but he's a political dud in the same way that Dick Gephardt is.
Rightly or wrongly, Obama is perceived as a bit of a dandy, much like John Kerry. He needs some testosterone on the ticket, not a policy wonk or an intellectual. I wish Webb were still being talked about as a possible choice. He's smart, charismatic guy with some tough-guy cred as well.
what about kimbo slice?
I side with the big cat, but Webb produces the same concerns saying crazy shiz that Biden does. Among those still mentioned, why not Bill Richardson? Attracts a good voter dynamic, seasoned on the global stage, decent attack dog.

you guys are wrong about biden. he's the best attack dog being considered, without a doubt. and he is not a dud, in the democratic debates he was always the most biting and humorous (barring perhaps kucinich). and PC, while he is a "policy wonk", he doesn't come off like an egghead at all. he's kind of brash.
biden does have a bit of foot-in-mouth disease. but i think that's ok. the VP candidate doesn't have to be prestine, it's more important that be up to doing the dirty work.
i like webb too, but he's a tad green. nunn would actually be a solid pick, but i feel like he's a bit out of the loop/collective consciousness. in any event, i don't think he's being seriously considered.
btw, note this AP piece that came out since my post:

Biden's a bit militaristic for me, but they do _look_ awesome together, which helps.
good piece on how biden squares up against his potential VP oponents.

“McCain knows Biden well. He knows how good he is as a knife fighter. He’ll take McCain apart,” said one Republican operative.
