personally i would remove the shins from the first list and insert "the management". or creed.
I would add to the first list the following: timber, captain beefheart, anything not listed that incorporates the skull into the kindercore logo, 98 percent of the bands playing the Athens popfest, specialteams/ shitake nights, remy zero, I(keep) the shins, jonathon richman, ordinary german guys or whatever, tilt,the streets, green jelly, leatherface, q-tip's solo efforts and interpol
to the latter:
the wedding present, blue oyster cult, sade, d'angelo, toni braxton, teddy pendergrass, nautical almanac, raphael saadiq, old skull, triple velcro, weird owl, fracture(1997), nurse the corpulent and white whisker
um...i'm adding guff to the first list and divorce to the second.
THE MANAGEMENT RULZ, THE SHINS DROOLZ. who's music made an embarrasing cameo in the shitty-ass movie Garden State, and who's music is basically awesome? I think that should set the record straight.
actually, I do like the Shins. I just got freaked out when I saw bad things about the Mgmt.
i actually thought the management's music was alright. i just found their "stage presence" to be genuinely unbearable. i am certain that i would hate them if i knew them.
the management should only be mentioned alongside baryshnykov as in "if it wasn't for baryshnykov, the magagement might be the worst band in the United States."
I think Big Gray is the "most exciting band in town"

the management is like baryshnykov: two dudes singing over programmed synthesizer music beats. except for that these guys look like really smug 19 year olds. i think they're from connecticut. the townie jv cheerleader posse really likes them.
