two sentence movie reviews....
crazy heart - even better than i was expecting, makes the best of '09 list for sure. fantastic turns by bridges, gyllenhall, and even farrell. A+.
religulous - ok, so religion has no basis in "fact" and is based on a blind "leap of faith" that is probably ultimately baseless. if you understand that, you don't need to see this movie. C.
sugar - a very interesting and unique script. depressing on some levels, but ultimately an uplifting story in my estimation. A.
500 days of summer - zooey can be pretty damn grating. i think she really believes that she's a manic pixie dream girl, but she's not. D+.
moon - i know a couple people who hated this movie (bloggins, gent). but i thought it was a perfectly enjoyable arty sci fi flick. B+.
julia - tilda swinton is a little much sometimes. decent plot line, but a bit overdone. B-.
how to make it in america (tv) - just tore through the first season on demand in like 2 days. with regard to the entourage comparison, my reaction is this show makes being poor in NY seem more appealing than being rich in LA. A.

yeah, there is a huge gap between the film manic pixie dream girl and the real life version, where they get annoying pretty damn fast.
I'd probably have liked "Crazy Heart" more if Hostage Crisis hadn't been sitting next to me, trashing it in real time.
hey i wasnt saying i didnt enjoy Moon, bc i did. it was great. I just dont understand why Jones didnt make clear if 'Sam' (the Sam that the audience started with) had been there for just shy of 3 yrs or had been cloned several times. were we supposed to deduce that he had been cloned? it was very thought provoking (which i guess makes it brilliant). things wrapped up like a present are so finite and can dull over time. this was exponential w/ possibilities. Sally is watching nowe in my room and just came out saying "i just found a hole in edititng" and she was right. when Sam get s in the first car wreck (wreck that lands him in the first infirmary) he busts up his rt eye- but then the next shot it shows his left eye bloody. was this just a bad edit? how the fuck did she pick up on that? what a nerd. but perhaps every shot was a different Sam? im getting headache just thinking of possibilities. Great film tho--one of a kind. Ive got Ed Wood on deck.
Wait, who is Kota? Another mb handle?
Clearly he had been cloned several times, that's why his daughter was way older.
no! I know nothing of Kota.
i LOVE moon. crazy heart on the other hand was, as we say in south ga., a real "piece of shit." except for the part where crazy heat's making those biscuits.
zooey deschanel's face looks like it doesnt have any bones in it. i like a little definition around that cheekbone region
Looking back, A+ might be a touch high. Sugar was a tad better. But I stand by a solid A-. Sorry if the movie offends your countryfied sensibilities, HC.
